The Controlling Document
This page provides a general overview. The complete Auto Cosmetics Limited Warranty controls Auto Cosmetics' coverage, periods, remedies, exclusions, and claim requirements.
Two Layers of Protection
Auto Cosmetics provides its own Limited Warranty covering the installed result of each covered service, including the installed material and Auto Cosmetics' workmanship.
When the installed material also carries a manufacturer warranty, that separate warranty remains available under the manufacturer's stated terms. The manufacturer warranty is not replaced, shortened, or eliminated by the Auto Cosmetics Limited Warranty.
Eligible customers therefore receive an additional layer of protection: Auto Cosmetics' coverage applies independently during its applicable period, while the separate manufacturer warranty continues under the manufacturer's terms.
Layer 1
Auto Cosmetics Limited Warranty
Issued by Auto Cosmetics. Covers the installed result of each covered service, including the installed material and our workmanship, for the periods listed below.
Layer 2
Separate Manufacturer Warranty
Issued by the material's manufacturer when applicable. Remains available for its full stated term under the manufacturer's own written terms.
What the Warranties Cover
Warranty coverage addresses product failure and installation defects, as defined by the applicable warranty terms. Damage caused by outside forces is not a defect. The distinction matters, because protective films are designed to take damage that would otherwise reach the vehicle.
Covered
Product failure & installation defects
- Yellowing and discoloration
- Cracking and crazing of the product
- Blistering and bubbling
- Peeling and delamination
- Loss of hydrophobic performance
- Edge lifting from our installation
- Trapped air bubbles from our installation
- Contamination under the film (dust, hair, debris)
- Misalignment, uneven edges, or adhesion failure
Not Covered
Damage from outside forces
- Rock chips and road debris impact
- Scratches, scuffs, and gouges from outside forces
- Collision, accidental damage, or vandalism
- Fire, hail, flood, and natural disasters
- Water spots from hard water or mineral deposits
- Damage from improper washing or abrasive tools
- Damage from harsh chemicals or solvents
- Non-automotive applications
The Most Important Concept
PPF and windshield film are sacrificial by design.
PPF and windshield-protection film are designed to reduce exposure to certain types of damage, but they cannot prevent every chip, crack, scratch, impact, or underlying-surface condition. A chip or crack in the film itself is wear from an outside force, not a defect. When the film has absorbed enough damage to need replacement, that is a new service, not a warranty repair.
If you are unsure whether what you are seeing is a defect or impact damage, bring the vehicle in. We will tell you.
How Warranty Review Works
Warranty review follows five steps:
Booking Does Not Establish Coverage
Submitting the form or scheduling or completing an inspection does not establish or confirm coverage under either warranty.
Auto Cosmetics Limited Warranty Periods
Auto Cosmetics' own Limited Warranty runs for the following periods, by service. These periods are separate from, and not combined with, any manufacturer warranty period.
Auto Cosmetics Limited Warranty Periods
Polishing and optional paint correction concerns must be reported within 30 days after completion. All periods are governed by the complete Auto Cosmetics Limited Warranty, which controls coverage, periods, remedies, exclusions, and claim requirements.
Separate Manufacturer Warranty Coverage
The installed material may also carry a separate warranty issued by its manufacturer. When applicable, that manufacturer warranty remains available for its full stated term as an additional layer of protection beyond the Auto Cosmetics Limited Warranty.
Manufacturer coverage is governed by the manufacturer's written terms, including eligibility, registration, maintenance, transferability, claims, remedies, exclusions, and labor coverage. The applicable warranty document will be identified or provided with the customer's quote, invoice, or coverage record.
How We Help
Auto Cosmetics will provide available installation records and reasonable administrative assistance. Manufacturer approval and remedies are determined by the manufacturer under its own warranty terms, and the customer may need to communicate directly with the manufacturer or its administrator.
Paint Protection Film: Manufacturer Warranty
The film installed on your vehicle may carry a separate warranty issued by its manufacturer covering product defects such as yellowing, cracking, blistering, and delamination, as defined in the manufacturer's written terms. The specific film installed is on your invoice, and we keep that record on file.
Manufacturer warranty periods shown are issued by the identified manufacturer and are separate from the Auto Cosmetics Limited Warranty. Eligibility, registration, coverage, exclusions, transferability, remedies, claims, and any labor coverage are governed exclusively by the applicable manufacturer's written warranty terms.
What the Manufacturer Warranty Typically Covers
- Yellowing and discoloration caused by manufacturing defects
- Cracking and crazing not caused by impact damage
- Blistering and bubbling from material failure
- Delamination from the paint surface
- Failure of the self-healing topcoat to function as specified
Ceramic Coating Warranties
We install System X ceramic coatings in two tiers. Every application is covered by the Auto Cosmetics Limited Warranty for its stated period, and the coating may also carry a separate System X manufacturer warranty under the manufacturer's written terms.
Third-Party Validation · Max G+

Transferability
The Auto Cosmetics Limited Warranty applies only to the original customer and original vehicle and is not transferable. Any separate manufacturer warranty is governed by that manufacturer's transferability requirements.
Windshield Protection Film: Manufacturer Warranty
ExoShield windshield protection film carries a 3-year manufacturer warranty covering defects in material and workmanship, as stated in the manufacturer warranty terms linked below. The film is designed to reduce exposure to certain types of damage, but it cannot prevent every chip, crack, or impact.
- Defects in material (delamination, adhesion failure, clarity issues)
- Defects in manufacturing and workmanship
- Premature yellowing or haze beyond expected wear
Auto Cosmetics Limited Warranty
The Auto Cosmetics Limited Warranty covers the installed result of each covered service, including the installed material and Auto Cosmetics' workmanship, for the periods shown above. It applies only to the original customer and original vehicle and is not transferable.
It addresses issues that result from the installation process, separate from any product defects covered by a manufacturer warranty.
What We Cover
- Edge lifting caused by incorrect application technique
- Air bubbles trapped during installation
- Visible contamination under the film (dust, hair, debris)
- Misalignment or uneven edges
- Film or coating application errors
- Poor adhesion resulting from inadequate surface preparation
Remedies
If Auto Cosmetics determines that a condition is covered, Auto Cosmetics will, at its option, correct, repair, re-perform, or replace the affected installation. If none of those remedies is commercially reasonable, Auto Cosmetics may provide a credit or refund up to the amount paid for the affected service.
Optional PPF Cure Check
Auto Cosmetics offers an optional post-installation inspection to evaluate PPF curing and installation appearance. This service may include a complimentary hand wash. It is not required to preserve warranty coverage and does not modify either warranty.
What Is Not Covered
Coverage is limited to covered defects in the installed result. In general, neither warranty covers damage from outside forces or wear: rock chips and road-debris impacts, scratches and scuffs, collision or vandalism, environmental events such as hail or flood, stains and water spots, damage from improper washing or harsh chemicals, or use inconsistent with the care instructions provided at time of service.
The complete list of exclusions, conditions, and claim requirements appears in the Auto Cosmetics Limited Warranty, which controls. Any separate manufacturer warranty carries its own exclusions under the manufacturer's terms.
Reminder
Film taking damage is wear, not a defect.
Protective films are designed to reduce exposure to certain types of damage, but they cannot prevent every chip, crack, scratch, or impact. Damage a film absorbs from an outside force is wear. When a film has taken enough damage to warrant replacement, that is a new service.
If You Are Unsure
If you cannot tell whether what you are seeing is a covered defect or damage from an outside force, request a warranty review anyway. We would rather inspect the vehicle and tell you definitively than have you wonder. There is no cost for the inspection.
